KATE SYLVESTER AW12 SHOW AT THE AUCKLAND ART GALLERY

The Secretary is very, very good.
And very, very, very bad.

Held at the Auckland Art Gallery the lofty, modernist, honey stoned atrium was the quietly grand setting for a show both sophisticated and subversive in classic Kate style.

Based on the 2002 movie The Secretary starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader, the show replicated some of the movies many iconic scenes.

Immaculately dressed secretaries crawled, tied each other up, flashed the audience and got their bottoms soundly slapped.

As the tableau unfolded the music built from the subtle seductive bass of Leonard Cohen’s I’m your Man (from the movie) to the finale of Iggy Pop’s growling, howling I Wanna be your Dog.

Many of Kate’s secretaries wore spectacles as the night also saw the launch of Kate Sylvester’s new opticals range.
This collection features stand out round and cats eye shapes in a beautiful palette of honeys, olives, tortoiseshell, eggshell and blush pink. The opticals will be available from opticians from November.

The night also celebrated the launch of a Kate Sylvester Millton wine collaboration. Millton’s first sparkling wine Muscats at Dawn features a beautiful label designed by Kate’s partner Wayne Conway.
